All About Veritas

Veritas means 'Truth' in Latin, however, we have taken it from the full quote; "Veritas Christo et Ecclesiae" which means, "Truth for Christ and the Church."
Veritas is a children's, daily devotional, geared to ages 7-13 (however, I'm sure anyone of any age would appreciate it's content). Each month is a different theme. January's theme was EVANGELIZATION so all of the readings, reflections, journal questions and prayers were wrapped around that theme. February's theme was SACRAMENTS and all the content was wrapped around that theme, etc.
I'll give you a little back story for my reasoning in creating this devotional.
My oldest daughter had finished her first communion classes, and was on fire for Jesus in the Eucharist. All the catechesis that she had received had created a beautiful passion for Our Lord, and she couldn't wait to receive Jesus for the first time.
After her First Communion, I realized that she needed more than our regular day to day religion studies. She desperately wanted her own prayer book. She had a picture bible as well as a little book of prayers already, but they weren't enough for her. They weren't fuelling the fire that she had when she was being challenged in her Catechism classes.
I searched for resources. I looked to something that could be her own, but no matter where I searched, I couldn't find something that gave dignity to her ability to absorb the real truth. Everything seemed like it was too young, too colourful, too simple...
I wanted her to have something beautiful, something that would challenge her and encourage her to grow in her faith!
A while later, we were camping for a family reunion where we had access to the Blessed Sacrament in a chapel on site. My father (being a Deacon) would have exposition of the Blessed Sacrament each morning, while he did the liturgy of the hours, and invited anyone who wanted to join him to come to the chapel. My girls were eager to join him, so for the two days we were there, we were blessed to start our day in front of Jesus.
As we walked out of the chapel after morning prayer o the second day, my oldest two daughters both shared with me how much they loved the repetition of the prayers in "Pa's" book, and how they wished they could have a beautiful book (like Pa's) that they could read every morning.
Again, I began my search for a resource that matched their desires, and again, I was frustrated. I had a burning desire to give my children something true, something beautiful something that challenged them and that sparked a fire in their hearts.
I realized that this frustration, was actually a fire, a deep burning desire on my heart to fill this void for my children, was a desire put there by God.
So, here we are.
Here is a devotional, full of truth, to fill that burning desire in your child's heart. I hope the beauty of the words inside this book, inspire not only the person holding it, but everyone that they come in contact with.
