Submission
Why do we need submission?
The world around us encourages us to be self-reliant and independent. Meanwhile, the Church strongly encourages the opposite: submission. The highest virtue, love, requires us to be submissive to the needs of our beloved ones. The great saints of the Church all have one thing in common: complete submission to the will of God in the little details and big details of their life.
Why does God work this way? The answer is quite simple once we stop to think about it. God cares about us more than we care for ourselves. Also, God not only has the power to create us in the first place but also the power to provide the best possible situations for us. Sometimes those situations seem to us to be unnecessarily difficult, but we really are not good judges of what we most need; God is.
When we submit to God’s will, we gain peace. Peace is from God; worry is not.
